Titled Healing flows the project was commissioned by West Middlesex Hospital for their Intensive Care Unit area, and I invited artist to collaborate and the staff of the hospital to be involved in consultation and creative workshops.
Responding to the local surroundings of the hospital, as the river thames and its estuaries are within close proximity, the aim was to bring nature, peace and calm rivers and its flowing waters transmit to humans, to the spaces of the corridor and adjacent rooms of Intensive Care. I have been using photos and old illustrations of aquatic pants such as algae, seaweeds, lilies, and others for the large scale collage that populate the ceiling. There are ceramic tiles too with these themes as well, for which I had the help of ceramist and curator Noel Cheung. A sound piece also accompanies the installation, with water as the main element. This is was done in collaboration with Javier Weyler and Ezequiel Pizzani. The adjacent rooms were done by artist Jaime Gili with his Lakes painting series adapted to the walls of the rooms and some in the inner corridors too, with my ceramics overlaying.
